# Native Yield

A cornerstone of the StratoVM ecosystem is sBTC, an innovative yield-bearing token underpinned by native Bitcoin. sBTC's backing assets are fully transparent, allowing for on-chain validation and independent public audits, thus reinforcing trust and accountability within the system.

sBTC offers Bitcoin holders several key advantages:

1. Seamless Conversion: Users can easily convert between BTC and sBTC.
2. DeFi Participation: Access to various DeFi applications within the StratoVM ecosystem.
3. Native Yield Generation: Holders can earn yields from multiple sources, including:
   * Ecosystem engagement
   * Bitcoin staking protocols
   * Market-neutral basis trading strategies
   * Ecosystem incentives provided by StratoVM and its partners
4. Flexible Redemption: Multiple options for redeeming sBTC.
5. Bitcoin Exposure: Maintained exposure to Bitcoin's underlying value.

By leveraging sBTC, Bitcoin holders can preserve their asset liquidity while exploring a range of yield-generating DeFi opportunities:

* Contribute liquidity to decentralized exchanges
* Participate in lending markets to earn interest
* Engage in yield farming and strategic trading
* Create yield-bearing synthetic assets
* Access emerging and innovative yield-generating protocols

StratoVM's vision is to streamline the process of earning yield on Bitcoin holdings. We've developed a secure, trust-minimized framework that allows users to generate returns while maintaining their long-term Bitcoin position. This approach represents a significant evolution in how users can interact with their Bitcoin assets within the expanding DeFi landscape.

### The Potential of Native Yield

The introduction of native yield through sBTC aims to dramatically increase the utility and attractiveness of Bitcoin within the broader crypto ecosystem. Currently, BTCfi's Total Value Locked (TVL) represents only 0.13% of Bitcoin's $1.4 trillion market cap, compared to Ethereum's DeFi TVL at 10% of its market cap. This discrepancy underscores the immense growth potential within the BTCfi space.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2F0bPpOlbcLebd1787kh6F%2F222.png?alt=media&amp;token=d6326ad2-4890-488e-974b-705367abfd38" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The benefits of native yield include:

1. Increased Liquidity: Attracting more capital into the Bitcoin ecosystem.
2. Protocol Development: Incentivizing the creation of new protocols and applications.
3. Interoperability: Using sBTC as a bridge between Bitcoin and other blockchain ecosystems.
4. Revenue Generation: Creating new streams to reinvest in ecosystem growth.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FgQk2PVD9rVhnU37rrAaJ%2F5.png?alt=media&amp;token=36a805f4-f8bf-40a5-a9db-a155a17c0cf4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### StratoVM's Modular Design

StratoVM's modular architecture allows for seamless integration of various DeFi protocols and applications. This flexibility enables a rich ecosystem where sBTC and native yield can be utilized in numerous ways, from simple staking to complex financial instruments.

By addressing the challenges of moving and swapping Bitcoin and its derivatives, StratoVM aims to develop a frictionless solution for asset swaps across Layer 2s. This will enhance liquidity, drive growth, and make BTCfi more accessible and efficient, ultimately contributing to the broader expansion of Bitcoin's utility in the DeFi ecosystem.

As we continue to develop and refine StratoVM, sBTC, and the concept of native yield, we invite the community to join us in shaping the future of Bitcoin utility. Together, we're set to redefine the landscape of Bitcoin and decentralized finance.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This page describes the preliminary plans for the StratoVM ecosystem and sBTC. While the core functionality as outlined remains accurate, the team is actively exploring potential ecosystem partnerships to further enhance the native yield integration. As a result, the sBTC economics may be redesigned in the future to better align with the evolving ecosystem strategy. The details provided in this document are subject to change as the project continues to develop.
{% endhint %}

# Architecture

StratoVM's architecture is modular, allowing for customization and flexibility in various components. The core modules of StratoVM include:

**Data Availability Module: Celestia**

The Data Availability module serves as the foundation of the StratoVM architecture, significantly impacting the security model of the entire stack. StratoVM utilizes Celestia as its primary Data Availability solution, storing the data (compressed transactions) on the Celestia network.

**Data Validation Module: Bitcoin**

To ensure the highest level of security and decentralization, StratoVM inherits the security properties of the Bitcoin network by storing the data hash on the Bitcoin blockchain. This approach enables StratoVM to leverage Bitcoin's consensus mechanism without requiring its own separate consensus protocol.

**Rollup Module: Optimism**

StratoVM reuses the battle-tested Optimism codebase, implementing a modified version of the OP Stack that adds support for Bitcoin. This module defines how the raw data stored in the Data Availability component is processed to form the inputs for the Execution Engine.

**Smart Contract Module: EVM**

StratoVM is designed to be EVM-equivalent, allowing developers to migrate decentralized applications (dapps) from Ethereum to Bitcoin with minimal or no modifications. This compatibility ensures a seamless transition for existing Ethereum developers and projects to leverage the security and decentralization of the Bitcoin network.

{% hint style="info" %}

#### Inheriting Bitcoin's Security through Merged Mining

While StratoVM leverages the security of the Bitcoin network by storing data hashes on the Bitcoin blockchain, the team is actively researching the possibility of inheriting Bitcoin's security through a merged mining protocol. This approach, known as re-staking Bitcoin, would further solidify StratoVM's security by leveraging the vast mining power and decentralization of the Bitcoin network.
{% endhint %}

# Getting Started

### Development Stacks

As you can see in the different development stacks below, the way you deploy contracts and interact with them is almost identical to the way you do it with L1 Ethereum. The most visible difference is that you have to specify a different endpoint (of course).

* [Apeworx](https://www.apeworx.io/)
* [Brownie](https://eth-brownie.readthedocs.io/en/stable/install.html)
* [Foundry](https://getfoundry.sh/)
* [Hardhat](https://hardhat.org/)
* [Remix](https://remix.ethereum.org/)
* [Truffle](https://trufflesuite.com/)
* [Waffle](https://getwaffle.io/)

### Best Practices

#### Use Provided EVM <a href="#use-provided-evm" id="use-provided-evm"></a>

It is best to start development with the EVM provided by the development stack. Not only is it faster, but such EVMs often have extra features, such as the [ability to log messages from Solidity](https://hardhat.org/tutorial/debugging-with-hardhat-network.html) or a [graphical user interface](https://trufflesuite.com/ganache/).

#### Contract Source Verification <a href="#contract-source-verification" id="contract-source-verification"></a>

You don't have to upload your source code to [block explorers](https://docs.optimism.io/builders/tools/build/block-explorers), but it is a good idea. On the test network, it lets you issue queries and transactions from the explorer's user interface. On the production network, it lets users know exactly what your contract does, which is conducive to trust.

# Deploying Your First Contract on StratoVM Sepolia

**This tutorial is meant for developers who are new to Solidity.** If you're already familiar with Solidity - StratoVM is designed to "just work" with existing Ethereum tooling, so you can use the tools you already know like [Hardhat](https://hardhat.org/) or [Foundry](https://getfoundry.sh/) just like you would on Ethereum.

This tutorial walks you through the process of deploying your first smart contract to StratoVM Sepolia using the [Remix](https://remix.ethereum.org/) in-browser Solidity IDE.

### Dependencies <a href="#dependencies" id="dependencies"></a>

* Firefox or any Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc.)

### Wallet Setup <a href="#wallet-setup" id="wallet-setup"></a>

You'll need access to an [Ethereum wallet(opens in a new tab)](https://ethereum.org/en/wallets/) if you want to deploy a smart contract. This tutorial uses [MetaMask(opens in a new tab)](https://metamask.io/), a popular browser extension wallet, just to get you started. MetaMask is also available as a mobile application, but it's typically easier to use the browser extension for development. If you already have MetaMask installed, you can skip this section.

### 1. Install the Metamask extension for your browser

Head over to [metamask.io](https://metamask.io/) and click the "Download" button. You'll then be given an option to install the MetaMask extension for your browser. If using a Chromium-based browser, you may be prompted to install the MetaMask extension from the Chrome Web Store. An onboarding page will pop up once the extension is installed.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FrUf74BWP2pckIt1bKTfx%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2022.43.53.png?alt=media&amp;token=1831fe64-b2b9-40f3-8936-353fc865cee3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 2. Continue to create a new wallet&#x20;

MetaMask will ask you to accept their terms of service. Read them carefully, then tick the box to accept them. Once you've accepted the terms of service, you can create a new wallet by clicking the "Create a new wallet" button.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FEOVCxNWm87NtsGs9KeRz%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2022.46.10.png?alt=media&amp;token=15f50140-2c6e-4fd1-9fcc-10dd3d4cff56" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 3. Decide if you want to share usage data

After starting the wallet creation process you'll be asked if you'd like to share usage data with MetaMask. This is entirely up to you. Select "I agree" or "No thanks" depending on your preference.

### 4. Create Password

You'll be asked to create a password for your wallet. This password will be used to encrypt your wallet, so make sure it's a strong one that you won't forget.

You'll be asked to confirm that you understand MetaMask cannot recover your password if you lose it. You may want to store this password in a password manager. Remember, browser-based wallets are great for development but are not the most secure option. Consider looking into a hardware wallet if you're planning to store a significant amount of ETH or ERC-20 tokens.

Once you've written down your password, click "Create a new wallet" to continue.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FgK8YK77yXeY4MveHyCfq%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2022.47.54.png?alt=media&amp;token=4b583642-86c3-4a29-ba6d-fb9e35a82e2e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 5. Watch the short security video

MetaMask will now show you a short video about wallet security. If this is your first time using MetaMask or a browser-based wallet, it's recommended that you watch the video.

### 6. Secure your wallet

You'll be presented with the option to "Secure my wallet (recommended)" or "Remind me later (not recommended)". It's strongly recommended to continue with the "Secure my wallet (recommended)" option. This will prompt you to back up your wallet and might prevent you from losing access to your wallet down the line.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FLapYXD9A5k55eUAhSy4G%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2022.48.50.png?alt=media&amp;token=d2527b00-fe30-4709-8dfb-7b2c8baffa6c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 7. Write down your secret recovery phrase

After continuing with "Secure my wallet (recommended)", you'll be asked to write down a 12 word secret recovery phrase. This phrase can be used to recover your wallet if you lose your password or the browser extension somehow becomes corrupted. Write these words down somewhere safe and keep them secret. For a development wallet, it's fine to keep the phrase in a password manager. Just don't place too much importance in this wallet.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2Fp9F76zOGSIjoERwLNtXB%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2022.54.14.png?alt=media&amp;token=2adcf9fb-cd97-4568-93ad-ccf69c7318a5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 8. Confirm your secret recovery phrase

After writing down your secret recovery phrase, you'll be asked to confirm it. This is to make sure you wrote it down correctly. MetaMask will ask you to input a few of the words you wrote down. Make sure to input them in the correct order.

## Write Your First Contract <a href="#write-your-first-contract" id="write-your-first-contract"></a>

The most popular smart contract development language today is [Solidity(opens in a new tab)](https://docs.soliditylang.org/en/latest/). In this tutorial, you'll be using a browser-based integrated development environment (IDE) called [Remix(opens in a new tab)](https://remix.ethereum.org/). Remix is a great tool for learning Solidity because it requires minimal setup and runs in your browser.

### Open Remix

Head over to [remix.ethereum.org(opens in a new tab)](https://remix.ethereum.org/) to open Remix. You'll be presented with a welcome screen and a popup asking if you'd like to share usage data with Remix. Accept or decline this request depending on your preferences.

### Step through the tutorial

Remix has a small built-in tutorial that will walk you through the basics of the IDE. Click the "Next" button to step through the tutorial. Read through the tips to get a sense of the IDE.

### Create an empty contract file

Click on the "File" icon in the left sidebar to create a new file. Name the file "MyFirstContract.sol" and hit enter to create it.

<br>

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FtnUarFUQswdgKF5fzAki%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.01.57.png?alt=media&amp;token=565215d6-afc7-4876-a9db-34b3db43b801" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Write your first contract

This tutorial will show you how to deploy a simple contract that has a storage variable you can read and write. You'll be able to update this variable with a transaction and then retrieve the updated value. This is just a simple example to get you started.&#x20;

Copy and paste the following code into the file you just created. Remix will detect copy/pasted code and give you a warning about it. This is meant to prevent you from accidentally running malicious code. Always be careful when copy/pasting code from the internet!

```solidity
// SPDX-License-Identifier: MIT
pragma solidity ^0.8.0;
contract MyFirstContract {
    string public message;
    function setMessage(string memory _message) public {
        message = _message;
    }
}
```

### Compile your contract

By default, Remix will automatically compile your contract when you save it. You can also manually compile your contract by clicking the "Solidity Compiler" icon in the left sidebar and then clicking the "Compile" button. It's usually easier to leave automatic compilation enabled. You shouldn't see any compilation errors for this contract.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2Flrfemne4h9WSaLbAKVp2%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.04.12.png?alt=media&amp;token=32429bb6-b22e-4125-ae3b-097ef4f626dd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Deploy Your Contract <a href="#deploy-your-contract" id="deploy-your-contract"></a>

Now that you've written your first contract, you can deploy it to OP Sepolia. Deploying contracts with Remix is pretty straightforward

#### Open the Deploy tab

Click on the "Deploy & run transactions" icon in the left sidebar to open the Deploy tab (it looks like an Ethereum logo with an arrow pointing to the right). You'll see some deployment options and a list of contracts that are currently compiled. Since you only have one contract, you should see a single contract called "MyFirstContract" in the list.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FHy8nXKCCXXIGLc4Ezrh4%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.05.42.png?alt=media&amp;token=27450fdc-851a-4ef8-a868-2616e1b55f1b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Change your environment

By default, Remix will try to deploy your contract to a local, in-memory blockchain. This is useful for testing, but you'll need to change your environment to deploy to OP Sepolia for this tutorial. Click on the dropdown underneath the "Environment" heading and select "Injected Provider - MetaMask".

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2Fylyp6CrBCqztCEydL2Nt%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.06.28.png?alt=media&amp;token=e3adaf09-81bf-4b80-a416-93bcb368917b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Accept the connection request

Once you've selected the "Injected Provider - MetaMask" option, MetaMask will show you a popup asking if you'd like to connect to Remix. Accept this request by clicking the "Connect" button.

## Deploy your contract

You're now ready to deploy your contract! Click the orange "Deploy" button to deploy your contract to StratoVM Sepolia. You'll be presented with another MetaMask popup asking you to confirm the transaction. Click the "Confirm" button to continue.

### Wait for your transaction to confirm

StratoVM Sepolia is relatively fast, so transactions should confirm within just a few seconds. Remix will automatically detect when your transaction has confirmed and will show you your newly deployed contract under the "Deployed Contracts" heading within the Deploy tab.

### Interact With Your Contract <a href="#interact-with-your-contract" id="interact-with-your-contract"></a>

Now that you've deployed your contract, you can interact with it. Remix makes it easy to interact with your contract by providing a built-in user interface. You can use this interface to call functions on your contract and read its state.

### Expand your contract

Click on the arrow next to the name of your contract under the "Deployed Contracts" heading to expand it. You should see a list of functions that you can call on your contract.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2Fy9XLi0s6dz1RdrCaJPWu%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.08.09.png?alt=media&amp;token=af2e5db8-ffaf-45d4-a86f-beeda4276954" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Call the setMessage function

Now you'll update the message variable in your contract. Type a message into the input box next to the orange "setMessage" button and click on the "setMessage" button. Just like when you deployed your contract, you'll be presented with a MetaMask popup asking you to confirm the transaction. Click the "Confirm" button to continue.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FzdNPdmQgvwOiOvSngWzz%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.08.40.png?alt=media&amp;token=3541c92f-2c31-48b3-83f3-b3b94967e248" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Wait for your transaction to confirm

Once again, Remix will automatically detect when your transaction has confirmed. You'll see a green checkmark appear in the console at the bottom of the screen.

### Read the updated message variable

Click on the "message" button to read the updated message variable. You should see the message you set in the previous step appear underneath the "message" button. Congrats, you've successfully deployed and interacted with your first smart contract on StratoVM Sepolia!

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2FrBWhiXhDSVILAwITSgIC%2FScreenshot%202024-08-01%20at%2023.09.29.png?alt=media&amp;token=754e9971-bc9f-492f-b66b-be94d881e079" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## How Your Contract Works <a href="#how-your-contract-works" id="how-your-contract-works"></a>

Now that you've deployed your contract, you might be wondering how it works. Let's take a closer look at the code you wrote.

#### License Identifier <a href="#license-identifier" id="license-identifier"></a>

The first line of most Solidity files is the license identifier. This line is used to specify the license under which the code is released. In this case, the code written is released under the [MIT license(opens in a new tab)](https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT).

```solidity
// SPDX-License-Identifier: MIT
```

#### Pragma Directive <a href="#pragma-directive" id="pragma-directive"></a>

The next line is a [pragma directive(opens in a new tab)](https://docs.soliditylang.org/en/latest/layout-of-source-files.html#pragma). This line tells the Solidity compiler which version of the Solidity language to use. In this case, the code is written for Solidity version 0.8.0 or higher.

```solidity
pragma solidity ^0.8.0;
```

### Contract Definition <a href="#contract-definition" id="contract-definition"></a>

The next line defines a contract called `MyFirstContract`. A contract is a collection of code and data that is stored at a specific address on the blockchain. You can think of a contract as a class in an object-oriented programming language. The contract definition is followed by a pair of curly braces that contain the contract's code.

```solidity
contract MyFirstContract {
```

### Message Variable <a href="#message-variable" id="message-variable"></a>

The first thing you'll notice inside the contract definition is a variable called `message`. This variable is declared as a `string`, which is a Solidity type that represents a string of characters. The `public` keyword means that this variable can be read from outside the contract.

```solidity
    string public message;
```

### Message Update Function <a href="#message-update-function" id="message-update-function"></a>

The next thing you'll notice is a function called `setMessage`. This function takes a single argument called `_message` of type `string`. The `public` keyword means that this function can be called from outside the contract by anyone. Since this function doesn't have any access control, anyone can update the `message` variable.

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```solidity
    function setMessage(string memory _message) public {message = _message;}
```

{% endcode %}

***

<details>

<summary><strong>What is the purpose of the bridge?</strong></summary>

To facilitate the transfer of assets and data from one blockchain ecosystem to another.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What are the fees?</summary>

When bridging over tokens from L1 to L2, you will have to sign one or two transactions with their corresponding fees:

1. If you are bridging a token for the first time, you'll sign one **approval transaction**.
2. In all cases, you'll sign a **deposit transaction** that will send your tokens to the Bridge.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Does StratoVM charges any fees on top? </summary>

StratoVM does not charge any extra fees. However, standard network fees still apply. These fees are not collected by StratoVM Bridge. The specific transaction fee can vary depending on the transaction type and the current network congestion.

</details>

# Architecture

This page reviews node architecture for all nodes running on the StratoVM network. All nodes are composed of two core software services, the Rollup Node and the Execution Client. StratoVM also optionally supports a third component, Legacy Geth, that can serve stateful queries for blocks and transactions created before the [Bedrock Upgrade](https://web.archive.org/web/20230608050602/https://blog.oplabs.co/introducing-optimism-bedrock/)

## Node Flow Diagram

The following diagram shows how the Rollup Node, Execution Client, and Legacy Geth components work together to form a complete node running on the network. This diagram uses the `op-node` and `op-geth` implementations of the Rollup Node and Execution Client respectively, but the same architecture generally applies to other implementations as well.

<figure><img src="https://1933461870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FC2SZlX8oPB8OFVguv4hs%2Fuploads%2F942FiXPWfSc6NXosTtme%2F4.png?alt=media&amp;token=60c889e1-262e-47e0-82b7-5059758a479b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Rollup Node <a href="#rollup-node" id="rollup-node"></a>

The Rollup Node is responsible for deriving L2 block payloads from L1 data and passing those payloads to the Execution Client. The Rollup Node can also optionally participate in a peer-to-peer network to receive blocks directly from the Sequencer before those blocks are submitted to L1. The Rollup Node is largely analogous to a [consensus client](https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/nodes-and-clients/#what-are-nodes-and-clients) in Ethereum.

### Execution Client <a href="#execution-client" id="execution-client"></a>

The Execution Client is responsible for executing the block payloads it receives from the Rollup Node over JSON-RPC via the standard [Ethereum Engine API](https://github.com/ethereum/execution-apis/blob/main/src/engine/common.md#engine-api----common-definitions) The Execution Client exposes the standard JSON-RPC API that Ethereum developers are familiar with, and can be used to query blockchain data and submit transactions to the network. The Execution Client is largely analogous to an [execution client](https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/nodes-and-clients/#what-are-nodes-and-clients) in Ethereum.

### Legacy Geth

OP Mainnet underwent a large database migration as part of the [Bedrock Upgrade](https://web.archive.org/web/20230608050602/https://blog.oplabs.co/introducing-optimism-bedrock/) in 2023. Blocks and transactions included in OP Mainnet prior to the Bedrock Upgrade are served by current execution engines but cannot be executed without the help of a special component called Legacy Geth. This means that you will need to run Legacy Geth if you want to be able to run RPC calls such as `eth_call` on blocks before the Bedrock Upgrade.

Legacy Geth is the software that was used to run OP Mainnet nodes prior to the Bedrock Upgrade. If you run an instance of Legacy Geth alongside your node, your node will be able to forward requests against historical transactions to the Legacy Geth instance. Legacy Geth is **not** required and is typically only necessary if you want to maintain a complete archive node for the network

## Next Steps

* To get your node up and running on your own, start with the run a node from docker or build a node from source tutorial.<br>

# Node License

## Overview

StratoVM Node License is a unique NFT that authenticates a node's eligibility to submit claims and earn rewards.

&#x20;StratoVM Node License holders will be able to participate in the functioning of the StratoVM network by running a light node themselves or by using the one-click delegation setup to connect to the StratoVM sequencer allowing them to earn their **share of 25% of the $SVM tokens.**

Overall, the Node License is a key part of node operations and reward distributions in the StratoVM Network.

## Operating StratoVM Node

The process is straightforward:

\- Users buy an NFT (Node License).\
\- Users can “stake” the NFT to run the node.\
\- Users then start earning rewards in the protocol’s native token.

*Running a node will be very easy with a one-click setup. Users don’t need any specific hardware and can also choose to delegate their node with a simple click to earn rewards, so there’s no need to keep their device constantly active. It also works seamlessly on mobile, allowing users to stake their NFT with one click and start earning rewards. Alternatively, users can set up their own nodes. We will provide a tutorial on that.*

**We'll share the purchase link on our Twitter and within our Discord before the sale begins.**

# Node Rewards

### &#x20;Overview

A total of 25% $SVM tokens supply are allocated for distribution to Node License holders.

Rewards are distributed to Node operators relative to the number of Node License they have tied to their operation. The more Node License associated with the wallet address the greater the share of rewards.

A total amount of 100 Million SVM Points are allocated for the distribution between Node license holders proportionally to the amount they hold before the Mainnet launch. After the Mainnet launch, these SVM Points will be converted to $SVM tokens.

# Node Sale FAQ

<details>

<summary>What is a Node Sale? </summary>

A node sale involves selling node licenses and is a relatively new way of raising funds. It has gained significant popularity, as seen when the Sophon node sale (a Layer 2 on zkSync) [raised $60 million](https://www.theblock.co/post/293182/zksync-hyperchain-sophon-raises-60-million-via-node-sale).\
\
The process is straightforward:\
\- Users buy an NFT (Node License)\
\- Users can "stake" the NFT and thereby run the node\
\- Users then start earning rewards in the protocol's native token

</details>

<details>

<summary>What do I receive from participating in the node sale? </summary>

You will receive a Node License, an ERC721 token (NFT). The token will be distributed after the end of the Node Sale. You can then stake this token to earn $SVM rewards.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How to run a Node? </summary>

We will publish a guided tutorial on how to run a node. In essence, it's a very simple process where users can stake their node and earn rewards.

Running a node will be very easy with a one-click setup. Users don't need any specific hardware and can also choose to delegate their node with a simple click to earn rewards, so there's no need to keep their device constantly active. It also works seamlessly on mobile, allowing users to stake their NFT with one click and start earning rewards.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What rewards can Nodes earn? </summary>

Nodes can earn 25% of the StratoVM token rewards. Additionally, they will receive StratoVM Points that can be converted to $SVM Tokens on mainnet launch.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is a Whitelist? </summary>

A whitelist is a pre-approved list of participants who are given exclusive access to certain privileges during a sale event. This system is used to reward and incentivize key contributors, partners, or early supporters of a project.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How to get Whitelisted? </summary>

Sign Up for the Waitlist: Just click [here](https://whitelist.stratovm.io/) and register to join our waitlist. This alone makes you eligible to participate in the raffle for a chance to win a whitelist spot. Each user can only get one whitelist spot for buying one node during this event.\
\
*Please note, being whitelisted does not guarantee a node purchase. It’s first come, first served.*

</details>

<details>

<summary>What are the benefits of being Whitelisted? </summary>

The Whitelist Round has a very limited supply and is only available to whitelisted wallets. Additionally, whitelisted users can enjoy a \~15% discount.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will there be any rewards for Node Lecense owners before the StratoVM Mainnet Launch?</summary>

Yes, owners will be able to stake their StratoVM node licenses on our app and start earning SVM points, which will increase the allocation of their $SVM airdrop.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Where can I see how many nodes I own ?</summary>

The number of nodes purchased, including any mystery boxes, can be seen on the dashboard. The actual NFT representing the node will be sent out at the end of the sale, shortly before the mainnet launch.

</details>

* We are not, do not speak for, and cannot bind, the StratoVM community. The StratoVM community is a collection of independent contributors to StratoVM. StratoVM Network is a separate, independent entity. While we currently contribute to the StratoVM ecosystem, we do not speak for the community, and cannot contractually bind it in any manner.
* We do not endorse third parties or third party information. Any time we link to, quote or otherwise reference a third party or reproduce or incorporate their information, content or material, it is solely for informational purposes. You should not assume that we have verified the accuracy of, or endorse in any way, such information, content or materials.
* When we talk about future ideas or prospects, we are expressing our vision and hopes, and there is no commitment or guarantee that it will come true, that we will implement any of it, or that it will work.
  1. Access to the Service and Sites; Your Apps. You may only access or use the Service and Sites or accept the Terms if you are an individual of legal age to form a binding contract (or if not, you have received your parent’s or guardian’s permission to use the Service or Site and have gotten your parent or guardian to agree to the Terms on your behalf). If you are agreeing to the Terms on behalf of an organization or entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to agree to the Terms on that organization’s or entity’s behalf and bind them to the Terms (in which case, the references to “you” and “your” in the Terms, except for in this sentence and in the paragraph directly above, refer to that organization or entity). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and are fully responsible for any and all activities that occur under your credentials.\
     As between StratoVM Network and you, you will be solely responsible for your applications (“Your Apps”), including their development, operation, maintenance and all related content and materials.

  2. License; Open Source Components. Subject to these Terms, you are hereby granted a non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable, limited license to use and access the Sites and the Service solely for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to the following restrictions: (a) you shall not license, sell, rent, lease, transfer, assign, distribute, host, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service or Sites, whether in whole or in part, or any content displayed on the Service or Sites; and (b) you shall not modify, make derivative works of, disassemble, reverse compile or reverse engineer any part of the Service or Sites. All copyright and other proprietary notices on the Service and Sites (or on any content displayed on the Service or Sites) must be retained on all copies thereof.\
     As noted above, certain software components underlying StratoVM are made available under separate open source licenses, such as the MIT License and other open source licenses. You agree not to violate the terms of any such open source licenses. In the event of a conflict between the license granted to you in these Terms and any separate licenses for any software components underlying StratoVM, the separate license will prevail with respect to the software that is the subject of the separate license.

  3. The Interface. The Interface facilitates your ability to access StratoVM, but the Interface is distinct from StratoVM. It provides one, but not the exclusive, means of accessing StratoVM. StratoVM is public, permissionless, and runs on open-source self-executing smart contracts. StratoVM enables people to do various things, such as processing Bitcoin transactions more efficiently and interacting with smart contract-based applications (“dApps”). The Interface, on the other hand, enables you to initiate messages to StratoVM to bridge digital assets between the Bitcoin and StratoVM public blockchains.

  4. Your Use of Wallets. To access the Interface or other components of the Service, you must use non-custodial wallet software (a “Web3 wallet”), which constructs and broadcasts the data (“transactions”) that allows you to interact with StratoVM. By using your Web3 wallet in connection with accessing the Interface or other components of the Service, you agree that you are using the Web3 wallet under the terms and conditions of the applicable provider of the Web3 wallet. No Web3 wallet is created by, operated by, maintained by, or affiliated with us. Accordingly, we do not have custody or control over the contents of your Web3 wallet and we have no ability to retrieve or transfer its contents. Your relationship with any given Web3 wallet provider is governed by the applicable terms of service of that third party, not these Terms.

  5. Assumption of risk. By using the Service or any Sites, you (a) represent that you are sophisticated enough to understand the various inherent risks of using cryptographic and public blockchain-based systems, including but not limited to the Interface and other components of the Service, StratoVM, and digital assets, and (b) acknowledge and accept all such risks, and agree that we make no representations or warranties (expressly or implicitly) regarding, and that you will not hold us liable for those risks, including but not limited to the risks described below, any or all of which could lead to losses and damages, including the total and irrevocable loss of your assets. These risks include, but are not limited to:

     * Wallet security and safekeeping. You are solely responsible for the safeguarding and security of your Web3 wallets. If you lose your wallet seed phrase, private keys, or password, you may be forever unable to access your digital assets. Any unauthorized access to your wallet by third parties could result in the loss or theft of your digital assets. We have no involvement in, or responsibility for, storing, retaining, securing or recovering your Web3 wallet seed phrases, private keys, or passwords, or for any unauthorized access to your Web3 wallet.
     * Blockchain technology. Public blockchains, and the technology underlying and interacting with cryptographic and public blockchain-based systems, are experimental, inherently risky, and subject to change. Among other risks, bugs, malfunctions, cyberattacks, or changes to a particular public blockchain (e.g., via forks) could disrupt these technologies irreparably. There is no guarantee that any of these technologies will not become unavailable, degraded, or subject to hardware or software errors, operational or technical difficulties, denial-of-service attacks, other cyberattacks, or other problems requiring maintenance, interruptions, delays, or errors.
     * Network cost and performance. The cost, speed, and availability of transacting on public blockchain systems are subject to significant variability. There is no guarantee that any transfer will be confirmed or transferred successfully.
     * Blockchain transactions and smart contract execution. Public blockchain-based transactions (including but not limited to transactions automatically executed by smart contracts) are generally considered irreversible when confirmed. Any transaction that will interact with smart contracts or be recorded on a public blockchain must be recorded with extreme caution.
     * Digital assets. The markets for digital assets are nascent and highly volatile due to various risk factors including (but not limited to) adoption, speculation, technology, security, and regulation. Digital assets and their underlying blockchain networks are complex emerging technologies that may be subject to delays, halts or go offline as a result of errors, forks, attacks or other unforeseeable reasons. Anyone can create a digital asset, including fake versions of existing digital assets and digital assets that falsely claim to represent projects. So-called stablecoins may not be as stable as they purport to be, may not be fully or adequately collateralized, and may be subject to panics and runs. You are solely responsible for understanding the risks specific to each digital asset that is relevant to you.
     * Cyber Security. In addition to being an especially novel and untested implementation of blockchain technology in general, cross-blockchain bridging technology and other blockchain related technology has historically been, and may in the future be, the subject of numerous cyberattacks and exploits, including without limitation hacks that exploit a vulnerability in the associated software, hardware, systems or other equipment or social engineering to gain control of the any bridge or other blockchain-related components, wallets, smart contracts or other related systems.
     * Control of StratoVM. StratoVM is subject to periodic upgrades, which may introduce other risks, bugs, malfunctions, cyberattack vectors, or other changes to StratoVM that could disrupt the operation of the Interface or other components of the Service, the functionality of bridging, your ability to access bridged digital assets, or otherwise cause you damage or loss.
     * Third Party Risks. Third-party products (including dApps) carry their own individual, often times highly significant risks. When you use the Interface to interact with any third-party products, you are subject to all of those risks. We disclaim all risk arising from the acts and omissions of any third party, including any third party with whom you transact or interact with using the Service. We are not responsible for confirming the identity of or overseeing any third party with whom you may interact using the Service.
     * Legal Process. We may suspend or terminate your use of the Service if you or any of your assets are subject to legal process or other encumbrance restricting any transaction or your use of the Service, and to address and investigate any suspicious activity we identify in connection with your use of the Service. We may comply with any such legal process. We may, but are not required to, request that you provide information and documentation regarding your identity and assets in order to use the Service.
     * Legislative and regulatory risks. Digital assets, blockchain technology, and any related software and services are subject to legal and regulatory uncertainty in many jurisdictions. Legislative and regulatory changes or actions may adversely affect the usage, transferability, transactability and accessibility of digital assets, bridging, StratoVM, or the Interface or other components of the Service.

  6. Intellectual Property Rights. The Service and the Sites and their entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, video and audio, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof), are owned by us, our licensors or other providers of such material and are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws. Neither these Terms (nor your access to the Service or any Sites) transfers to you or any third party any rights, title or interest in or to such intellectual property rights, except as indicated otherwise.

  7. Feedback. If you provide us with any feedback or suggestions regarding the Service or any Sites (“Feedback”), you hereby assign to us all rights in such Feedback and agree that we have the right to use and fully exploit such Feedback and related information in any manner we deem appropriate. Any Feedback you provide will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary, and we will be entitled to the unrestricted use and dissemination of such Feedback for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, without acknowledgment, attribution, or compensation to you.

  8. Third-Party Materials. The Service and Sites contain references, links, and enables you to connect to third-party resources including (but not limited to) Web3 wallets, non-standard bridges, applications (including dApps), and other information, materials, products, or services, which we do not own or control (collectively, “third-party products”). We do not approve, monitor, endorse, make any representations or warranties (expressly or implicitly) or assume any responsibility for any third-party products, any component thereof, or the manner in which those products or components interact with the Service or any Sites. When you use or rely on any third-party products, you do so at your own risk. You understand that you are solely responsible for any fees or costs associated with using third-party products and that, unless stated herein, the Terms do not otherwise apply to your dealings or relationships with any third parties or third-party products.

  9. Prohibited Uses; Legal Compliance. You may use the Service or any Sites only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. The following are examples of the kinds of content and/or uses that are prohibited. * Modification, Suspension and Termination

Upon termination of your access, your right to use the Services will immediately cease. We will not be liable for, and you agree to indemnify us for, any losses suffered by you resulting from any modification to any Services or from any modification, suspension, or termination, for any reason, of your access to all or any portion of the Site or the Services.

**Risks**

* By using the Services or interacting with the Site in any way, you represent and warrant that you understand the inherent risks associated with cryptographic systems and blockchain-based networks; Digital Assets, including the usage and intricacies of native Digital Assets, smart contract-based tokens, and systems that interact with blockchain-based networks. StratoVM does not own or control any of the underlying software through which blockchain networks are formed. In general, the software underlying blockchain networks is open source, such that anyone can use, copy, modify, and distribute it. By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that (i) StratoVM is not responsible for the operation of the software and networks underlying the Services, (ii) there exists no guarantee of the functionality, security, or availability of such software and such networks, and (iii) the underlying networks are subject to sudden changes in operating rules, such as those commonly referred to as “forks,” which may materially affect the Services.
* You acknowledge and agree that (i) blockchain networks use public/private key cryptography, (ii) you alone are responsible for securing your private keys, (iii) we do not have access to your private keys, (iv) losing control of your private keys will permanently and irreversibly deny you access to your Digital Assets, (v) neither StratoVM nor any other person or entity will be able to retrieve or protect your Digital Assets and (vi) if your private keys are lost, then you will not be able to transfer your Digital Assets to any other blockchain address or wallet and if this occurs, then you will not be able to realize any value or utility from the Digital Assets that you may hold.
* The Services and your Digital Assets could be impacted by one or more regulatory inquiries or regulatory actions, which could impede or limit the ability of StratoVM to continue to make available its proprietary software and, thus, could impede or limit your ability to access or use the Services.
* You acknowledge and understand that cryptography is a progressing field with advances in code cracking or other technical advancements, such as the development of quantum computers, which may present risks to Digital Assets and the Services, and could result in the theft or loss of your Digital Assets. To the extent possible, we intend to use commercially reasonable efforts to update or cause to be updated StratoVM-developed smart contracts related to the Services to account for any advances in cryptography and to incorporate additional security measures necessary to address risks presented from technological advancements, but you agree that such intention does not guarantee or otherwise ensure full security of the Services.
* You acknowledge that the Services are subject to flaws and that you are solely responsible for evaluating any code provided by the Services or Site. This warning and others we provide in these Terms in no way evidence or represent an ongoing duty to alert you to all of the potential risks of utilizing the Services or accessing the Site.
* Although we intend to provide accurate and timely information on the Site and during your use of the Services, the Site and other information available when using the Services may not always be entirely accurate, complete, or current and may also include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. To continue to provide you with as complete and accurate information as possible, information may be changed or updated from time to time without notice, including, without limitation, information regarding our policies. Accordingly, you should verify all information before relying on it, and all decisions based on information contained on the Site or as part of the Services are your sole responsibility. No representation is made as to the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness for any particular purpose of any information distributed via the Site or otherwise when using the Services. Prices and pricing information may be higher or lower than prices available on platforms providing similar services.
* Any use or interaction with the Services requires a comprehensive understanding of applied cryptography and computer science to appreciate the inherent risks, including those listed above. You represent and warrant that you possess relevant knowledge and skills to appreciate and understand such risks. Any reference to a type of Digital Asset on the Site or otherwise during the use of the Services does not indicate our approval or disapproval of the technology on which the Digital Asset relies, and should not be used as a substitute for your understanding of the risks specific to each type of Digital Asset.
* Use of the Services may carry financial risk. Digital Assets are, by their nature, highly experimental, risky, and volatile. Transactions entered into in connection with the Services are irreversible, final and there are no refunds. You acknowledge and agree that you will access and use the Site and the Services at your own risk. The risk of loss in trading Digital Assets can be substantial. You should, therefore, carefully consider whether such trading is suitable for you in light of your circumstances and financial resources. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you have been, are, and will be solely responsible for making your independent appraisal and investigations into the risks of a given transaction and the underlying Digital Assets. You represent that you have sufficient knowledge, market sophistication, professional advice, and experience to make your evaluation of the merits and risks of any transaction conducted in connection with the Services or any Digital Asset. You accept all consequences of using the Services, including the risk that you may lose access to your Digital Assets indefinitely. All transaction decisions are made solely by you. Notwithstanding anything in these Terms, we accept no responsibility whatsoever for, and will in no circumstances be liable to you in connection with, your use of the Services.
* You and we agree to comply with all Applicable Laws and acknowledge that such compliance may require us to, upon request by government agencies, take certain actions or provide information, including without limitation information about you, which may not be in your best interests.
* You are responsible for all trades you place, including any erroneous orders that may be filled. We do not take any action to resolve erroneous trades that result from your errors.
* Any Services you interact with are entirely your own responsibility and liability, and we are not a party to the Protocol.
* At any time, your access to your Digital Assets may be suspended or terminated or there may be a delay in your access or use of your Digital Assets which may result in the Digital Assets diminishing in value.
* The Services may be suspended or terminated for any reason or no reason, which may limit your access to your Digital Assets.
* You hereby assume, and agree that StratoVM will have no responsibility or liability for, the risks set forth in this Section 8. You hereby irrevocably waive, release and discharge all claims, whether known or unknown to you, against StratoVM , its affiliates, and each of their respective shareholders, members, directors, officers, managers, employees, lawyers, accountants, advisors, agents, representatives, suppliers and contractors related to any of the risks set forth in this Section 8.
* Indemnification

You agree you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StratoVM, its affiliates, and each of their respective shareholders, members, directors, officers, managers, employees, lawyers, agents, accountants, advisors, representatives, suppliers, and contractors (collectively, “Indemnified Parties”) from any claim, demand, lawsuit, action, proceeding, investigation, liability, damage, loss, cost or expense, including without limitation legal fees and expenses, arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of, access to or conduct in connection with, the Site, the Platform, Company Content or the Services; (b) Digital Assets associated with your Wallets; (c) any Feedback, Your Content or user content you provide to StratoVM including without limitation misleading, false, or inaccurate information; (d) your violation of these Terms; (e) your infringement or misappropriation of the rights of any other person or entity; (f) your wilful misconduct; (g) your violation of any Applicable Laws; or (h) any other party’s access and use of the Site, the Platform, Company Content or the Services with your Wallet, unique username, password or other appropriate security code. If you are obligated to indemnify any Indemnified Party, we (or, at its discretion, the applicable Indemnified Party) will have the right, in our sole discretion, to control any action or proceeding and to determine whether we wish to settle, and if so, on what terms, and you agree to corporate with us in connection with the foregoing.

* Survival

The following sections of these Terms will survive any termination of your access to the Site or the Services, regardless of the reasons for its expiration or termination, in addition to any other provision which by law or by its nature should survive: Sections 4 through 18.

* Governing Law

The interpretation and enforcement of these Terms, and any dispute related to these Terms, the Site or the Services, will be governed by and construed and enforced under the laws of Marshall Island without regard to conflict of law rules or principles (whether of Marshall Island or any other jurisdiction) that would cause the application of the laws of any other jurisdiction. You agree that we may initiate a proceeding related to the enforcement or validity of our intellectual property rights in any court having jurisdiction. For any other proceeding that is not subject to arbitration under these Terms, the courts located in Marshall Island will have exclusive jurisdiction. You waive any objection to venue in any such courts.

* Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SECTION CAREFULLY BECAUSE IT REQUIRES YOU TO ARBITRATE CERTAIN DISPUTES AND CLAIMS WITH StratoVM AND LIMITS HOW YOU CAN SEEK RELIEF FROM StratoVM . ALSO, ARBITRATION PRECLUDES YOU FROM SUING IN COURT OR HAVING A JURY TRIAL.

* You and we agree that any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms, the Site or the Services is personal to you and us and that any dispute will be resolved solely through individual action, and will not be brought as a class arbitration, class action, or any other type of representative proceeding.
* Except for disputes in which you or we seek injunctive or other equitable relief for the alleged unlawful use of intellectual property, you and we waive all rights to a jury trial and to have any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services resolved in court. Instead, for any dispute or claim that you have against us or relating in any way to the Site or the Services, you agree to first contact us and attempt to resolve the claim informally by sending a written notice of your claim (“Notice”) to us by email at <info@stratovm.io>. The Notice must: (i) include your name, residence address, email address, and telephone number; (ii) describe the nature and basis of the claim; and (iii) set forth the specific relief sought. Our notice to you will be similar in form to that described above. If you and StratoVM cannot reach an agreement to resolve the claim within thirty (30) days after such Notice is received, then either party may submit the dispute to binding arbitration administered by the Republic of the Marshall Islands ARBITRATION ACT (“RMIAA”) or, under the limited circumstances set forth above, in court. All disputes submitted to the RMIAA will be resolved through confidential, binding arbitration before one arbitrator (the “Arbitrator”). The place of arbitration shall be Marshall Islands unless the parties agree otherwise and shall be conducted under RMIAA’s Arbitration Regulation (the “RMIAA Rules”). The language to be used in the arbitral proceedings shall be English. The most recent version of the RMIAA Rules are available on the RMIAA website and are hereby incorporated by reference. You either acknowledge and agree that you have read and understand the RMIAA Rules or waive your opportunity to read the RMIAA Rules and waive any claim that the RMIAA Rules are unfair or should not apply for any reason.
* The Arbitrator will have exclusive authority to make all procedural and substantive decisions regarding any dispute and to grant any remedy that would otherwise be available in court, including the power to determine the question of arbitrability. The Arbitrator may conduct only an individual arbitration and may not consolidate more than one individual’s claims, preside over any type of class or representative proceeding or preside over any proceeding involving more than one individual.
* The Arbitrator, StratoVM, and you will maintain the confidentiality of any arbitration proceedings, judgments and awards, including, but not limited to, all information gathered, prepared, and presented for purposes of the arbitration or related to the dispute(s) therein. The Arbitrator will have the authority to make appropriate rulings to safeguard confidentiality unless the law provides to the contrary. The duty of confidentiality does not apply to the extent that disclosure is necessary to prepare for or conduct the arbitration hearing on the merits, in connection with a court application for a preliminary remedy or in connection with a judicial challenge to an arbitration award or its enforcement, or to the extent that disclosure is otherwise required by law or judicial decision.
* You and StratoVM agree that for any arbitration you initiate, you will pay the filing fee and all other RMIAA fees and costs. For any arbitration initiated by StratoVM , StratoVM will pay all RMIAA fees and costs. You and StratoVM agree that the courts of Marshall Island have exclusive jurisdiction over the enforcement of an arbitration award.
* Any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services must be filed within one year after such claim arose; otherwise, the claim is permanently barred, which means that you and StratoVM will not have the right to assert the claim.
* If any portion of this Section 16 is found to be unenforceable or unlawful for any reason: (i) the unenforceable or unlawful provision shall be severed from these Terms; (ii) severance of the unenforceable or unlawful provision shall have no impact whatsoever on the remainder of this Section 16 or the parties’ ability to compel arbitration of any remaining claims on an individual basis under this Section 16; and (iii) to the extent that any claims must therefore proceed on a class, collective, consolidated, or representative basis, such claims must be litigated in a civil court of competent jurisdiction and not in arbitration, and the parties agree that litigation of those claims shall be stayed pending the outcome of any individual claims in arbitration. Further, if any part of this Section 16 is found to prohibit an individual claim seeking injunctive relief, then that provision will have no effect to the extent such relief is allowed to be sought out of arbitration, and the remainder of this Section 16 will be enforceable.
* Amendments

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to amend these Terms from time to time. If we make changes, we will provide you with notice of such changes, which may include providing notice through the Services or updating the date at the top of these Terms. Unless we state otherwise in our notice, all such modifications are effective immediately, and your continued use of the Site and the Services after we provide that notice will confirm your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, then you must stop using the Site and the Services.

**General**

* You acknowledge and agree that our privacy policy, which is available at <https://docs.stratovm.io/protocol/privacy-policy> is incorporated herein by reference and forms part of these Terms.
* You consent to receive all communications, agreements, documents, receipts, notices, and disclosures electronically (collectively, our “Communications”) that we provide in connection with these Terms, the Site or any Services. You agree that we may provide our Communications to you by posting them on the Site or by emailing them to you at the email address you provide in connection with using the Services, if any.
* Any right or remedy of any Indemnified Party set forth in these Terms is in addition to, and not in lieu of, any other right or remedy whether described in these Terms or under Applicable Laws, whether at law or in equity. The failure or delay of such Indemnified Party in exercising any right, power, or privilege under these Terms shall not operate as a waiver thereof.
* The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Terms shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision of these Terms, all of which shall remain in full force and effect.
* You acknowledge and agree that we will have no responsibility or liability for any failure or delay in performance of the Site or any of the Services, or any loss or damage that you may incur, due to any circumstance or event beyond our control, including without limitation any flood, extraordinary weather conditions, earthquake, or other act of God, fire, war, insurrection, riot, labor dispute, accident, action of government, communications, power failure, or equipment or software malfunction.
* You agree that you may not assign or transfer any right to use the Site or the Services, or any of your rights or obligations under these Terms, without our express prior written consent, including by operation of law or in connection with any change of control, which may be withheld at our sole discretion. We may assign or transfer any or all of our rights or obligations under these Terms, in whole or in part, without notice or obtaining your consent or approval.
* Headings of sections are for convenience only and shall not be used to limit or construe such sections.
* These Terms contain the entire agreement between you and StratoVM, and supersede all prior and contemporaneous understandings between the parties regarding the Site and the Services.
* In the event of any conflict between these Terms and any other agreement you may have with us, these Terms will control unless the other agreement specifically identifies these Terms and declares that the other agreement supersedes these Terms.
* You agree that, except as otherwise expressly provided in this Agreement, there shall be no third-party beneficiaries to the Agreement other than the Indemnified Parties.
